The Council on Foundations, which provides the leadership and tools for philanthropic organizations, holds an annual competition for the distinguished Wilmer F. Shields Award for Communications Excellence. The Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga was honored this year with a Gold for it's newly re-branded Website.
Judges evaluated entries on several criteria using a scale of 1 - 5, with 5 being the highest score and 1 being the lowest. With few exceptions, the Foundation's new Website received fives across the board from each of this year’s judges.
Comments like: "Home Page is a WOW!", "Best of All nominations!", "Clear, compelling and informative" were quite common. Pete Cooper, president of Chattanooga’s Community Foundation said, "We are honored by this special recognition from the Council on Foundations. This honor wouldn't have been possible without the help of our talented and hardworking marketing partner, Maycreate Idea Group."
The awards, which originated in 1984, are named after the Council's first executive director. Their purpose is to educate the field of organized philanthropy about the importance and need for creative and strategic communications.
