Say hello to Bob Deitch, our new Digital Marketing Manager. What inspired him to pursue a career in advertising? His high school wrestling coach, who also taught a marketing class, as well as “Mad Men,” the popular TV series about the high-pressure world of New York’s Madison Avenue. As Bob puts it, “The creative side of the business sparked my interest, and I was on my way to a bachelor’s degree in marketing at UT in Knoxville.”
Bob also had a deep interest in entrepreneurship and took a number of classes on the subject. In his group projects, he did a lot of the copywriting and enjoyed the creative challenge. This experience encouraged him to follow his pursuit for his marketing degree.
He also felt that anytime he was writing something that could have a direct impact on a client’s business and their likelihood of success, it was very rewarding. He put it this way, “It’s nice when a business owner acknowledges the fact that an ad or a post on social media helped their business grow. I find it very gratifying.”
“If there is one word that defines Social Media,” says Bob, ‘It’s change.” Fierce competition, the drive for market dominance, rapid technology developments, and shifting user demands require platforms to innovate with new features and algorithms. His first working experience in the digital space was an ad agency in Knoxville. One of his coworkers introduced him to the Meta side of Social Media, which supports Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
With his help and the digital experience he gained from his other agency coworkers, Bob had no doubt he wanted to pursue a career in Social Media. He also admits working on deadlines and attaining additional agency experience made all the difference in his proficiency. Now that he’s joined the Maycreate team, he’s elevating the Google side, which focuses on capturing existing demand and intent through its search engine and advertising platforms.
“Growing up,” says Bob, “I enjoyed going fishing with my dad.” They both came to appreciate the chance to be still on a quiet bank while they waited patiently for a strike and enjoyed the peaceful silence. The experience brought them closer together. “Fishing is a form of meditation,” he says.
One other thing that shaped his early life was doing projects with his dad. “I learned so much about working on cars and projects around the house, but a project wasn’t done until it was done just right,” he recalls. As a young person that was difficult for him to accept. But years later, he felt that lesson taught him the value and importance of doing things right.
The two things that shaped his mindset and motivation from an early age, were playing sports and working on various projects around the house with his father. When you bring the combination of competitiveness and the thought involved in problem solving, you’re prepared to meet the demands and challenges of your job with confidence.
He’s committed to learning as much as he can about advertising and marketing, with the promise to expand his experience and success as a digital marketer. In short, he’s excited to work with the Maycreate team!
