After decades of obscurity primarily as an undergarment, the t-shirt first breakthrough moment came with Marlon Brando’s inimitable turn as Stanley Kowalski on the silver screen in A Streetcar Named Desire. From that moment on, t-shirts became synonymous with cool, complicated tough guys. Soon enough we see tie-dyed t-shirts in the Age of Aquarius, I Heart NY in every city in America, and we don’t need to talk about how t-shirts changed marketing for musicians. I mean, can you imaging going to a concert without seeing a merch table?
What we’re saying is that clothes aren’t just clothes, they’re a choice. Even more than that, they’re a choice about what the wearer wants to tell the world about who they are and what they believe.
