Know Thy Client– Why Relationship Building is Key

 Lindsey Lowe

Socrates said, “Know thyself,” but if he had worked in marketing, he probably would have also said “Know thy client.” As marketers, we know it’s important to understand our clients’ customers so we’re better equipped to reach them. That said, it’s just as important for us to understand our clients themselves so we can best present them to the world.

A true understanding of a brand and what makes it tick gives us the footing we need to tell its story well. Thus, it’s our responsibility to gather all pertinent information about a client’s values, offerings, and identity, and with all that create visuals and messaging that speak the right truths. Ultimately, we have to be able to readily communicate who they are, what they do, and how you stand to benefit from the solutions they provide. But how?

Relationship building. We do this by really getting to know them. Understanding our clients on a deeper level takes time, but we believe investing that time makes a world of difference. While this understanding starts with our tried-and-true brand discovery process, it’s the ongoing work— continued conversations, intentional listening, and spending time with clients where they work their magic— that cultivates measurable brand value.

With all of this in mind, some of our Maycreate team recently had the opportunity to tour the factory of our client, Propex, a Solmax Company. Under the roof of this impressive 807,000 square foot-facility, the Propex team develops, tests, and manufactures their incredibly innovative geosynthetic and erosion control products and systems. Not only was it interesting for us to see their processes firsthand, but it also gave us important insight into their business that will help guide future projects.

At Maycreate, we strive to understand the nuances of your business and brand, and to artfully weave those unique attributes we uncover into every message we create on your behalf. If you need a little help telling your story to the world, we’d love to talk! Contact one of our account supervisors, John Wagoner or Adam Bledsoe, today or call us at 423.634.0123. In the meantime, enjoy some photos from our Propex tour!
